Psychiatrist or psychologist in Pakistan, who first?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can prescribe. A clinical psychologist (like Sana Khan at GetMindCare) uses talking therapies such as CBT and MBCT, assessments, and parent work, and does not pretend to prescribe.

Many people in Pakistan start with a psychologist for anxiety, parenting, burnout, or child behaviour. If medicine looks necessary, a good psychologist will say so and help you find a psychiatrist. Severe risk, psychosis, or sudden collapse needs emergency/medical care first (1122), not a website form.

Directories and marketplaces mix both titles. Ask: can they prescribe? Do they do therapy themselves? Is the clinician named before you pay?
